Steps to Become a New Supervisor Candidate

Interested in becoming a New Supervisor Candidate?

At InDemand, one of the best opportunities to advance your career is the New Supervisor Candidate program. Many of our Field Managers (FMs) and Project Managers (PMs) started their careers as Field Representatives (Field Reps), before earning a Supervisor position through hard work, dedication, and selflessness. Essentially, they displayed our core values, and over time, these employees climbed the ladder to management positions. And you can too!

Below, you'll learn the nuts and bolts of becoming a Supervisor; including expectations of the position, the promotion process, and advice from some of our current Supervisors. Ready to take the first step in becoming a New Supervisor Candidate (NSC)? Continue reading to learn more!

Before we get into the details,

let's hear from our pros in the field.

"The good news is that there is a defined way to advance up the career ladder."

The image a new employee has of InDemand is largely influenced by the attitude, maturity, and professionalism of our Supervisors, so it's critical for Supervisors to exemplify our values. For this reason, we've established an improved structure and oversight in the process of identifying, training, and promoting high-performing employees to the position of Supervisor.

In 2021, InDemand put in place well-defined requirements, expectations, and timelines on how a Field Rep. can transition into a Supervisor–arguably the company's most important position. After all, without Supervisors, we cannot staff teams or complete projects, which in turn results in lost revenue and business decline. Therefore, an extensive personnel of Supervisors is essential to growing our business, but they also carry greater importance–they're the stewards of our culture.

Our 5 Core Values:

Step 1

The identification of an NSC begins when an employee showing a ‘spark.’  A ‘spark’ includes arriving on time for their shifts, looking the part, and showing up prepared. As exceptional employees, they also participate in shift meetings, proactively solve problems, ask questions, adhere to safety protocols, and are team players – in short, they are great examples of our ‘We Before Me’ value.

Current Supervisors, visiting FMs, PMs, Directors, and members of the Executive Management Team (EMT) are constantly looking for employees with a 'spark.'  Once identified, they're promoted by their Operations Directors to the position of Supervisor in Training (SIT) and often receive a small wage increase.

Step 2

Once promoted, SITs are assigned to a 'Training Supervisor' who will guide them through a 200-hour training curriculum. During this time, they'll acquire the hard and soft skills required to be an InDemand Supervisor. Some will ‘wash out’ of the program and return to a Field Representative role, some will require more training and could be advanced to Assistant Lead, but those who work hard, live by our values, master the Cruxos mobile app, and demonstrate superior project management skill, will be promoted to New Lead Candidate.

Step 3

As an NSC, the employee will quickly be assigned to a job where they'll be evaluated as they manage the project on their own (with oversight from an FM). Upon a successful evaluation, the NSC is promoted to Supervisor and awarded a pay increase. Should the NSC falter on the evaluation, they may revert to an SIT for further training or receive a promotion to Assistant Supervisor to gain more experience.
